Fox Acquires NewRoo: Memetracker Space Heating Up?

Crazier and crazier. Fox has snapped up NewRoo, the as-yet unlaunched memetracker, reports Mike A. Interestingly, they have a Squidoo-type system that allows you to set up your own memetrackers. NewRoo also plans to embrace revenue sharing (as I've been telling companies to do for ages - I even suggested this business model to one of the major memetrackers a few months back). You'll notice this is a very similar idea to what Boxxet is doing - allowing users to create a series of vertical memediggers.

With the ability to create endless vertical memetrackers and revenue-sharing thrown into the mix - not to mention the backing of Fox - I think this could work out. I'm kinda jealous I didn't build it myself.

Key point: the business model for memetrackers is finally revealing itself. Nope - it's not acquisitions. It's rev share, user-generated verticals and/or licensing to other firms. (If you're developing one of these and you need strategic advice or a partner in crime, I might find it an interesting problem to tackle.)
