eBay and Kaboodle have joined forces to create a new service, MyCollectibles, which launches officially on Monday. They've also put up an About Me page for the service on eBay, but this simply links back to the homepage right now.

At first glance, the integration doesn't seem very deep. If you've bought collectibles on eBay in the past 60 days, you can use the "one click import" feature to add them to Kaboodle. There's also a "right now on eBay" panel on the right hand side of each page which highlights the latest collectibles for sale on eBay. Nonetheless, I think this is a significant deal: eBay has always been about building communities, and it makes perfect sense to experiment with Web 2.0 features. What I'm still not sold on is the bizarre wiki and blog integration they've been working on - will those tools really improve the eBay experience, or just create a headache for moderators?

eBay could also learn a lot from Etsy - they're innovating at a furious pace.
