Digg V3, the new version of the social news site, is now live. As mentioned previously on Mashable, the new site brings additional topic areas and a redesign. The main categories are now Technology, Science, World & Business, Videos, Entertainment and Gaming. The site has also added an "upcoming stories" tab to display stories that are rapidly ascending (this was previously called "diggall"). Additionally, there's a new "agreed on" feature to show when two of your friends have Dugg the same story.

Before seeing the new site, I was unconvinced that Digg could own every vertical, but the execution here is incredibly good. Bloggers covering the new categories will rush to add "Digg This" buttons to their sites, creating a virtuous circle of traffic generation - something that will never happen with Netscape's new Digg clone. The new video section could also be huge. Along with MySpace and YouTube, Digg looks set to become one of the most successful social software plays yet.
