Blubrry Launches - New Podcast Directory

Blubrry, which went live late yesterday, is a new podcast directory coupled with a social network. Apart from being darned hard to spell, it's a fairly unremarkable effort: you can search for podcasts, browse by tags, listen to podcasts in the pop-up Flash player and add them to a subscription list. And of course there are RSS feeds for every 'cast (alas, no iTunes integration). Blubrry also adds a MySpace-style social networking layer - each user has a profile page, and you can add other members to your friends list. You can also leave comments on podcasts and profile pages. In theory, you should be able to post your own podcast, but that functionality isn't working at the moment.

The most important thing in a podcast directory is the content, and that's where Blubrry seems to be lacking right now. Compared to the thousands of podcasts available at Odeo or PodcastAlley, Blubrry seems virtually empty.
