Jonathan Abrams' social startup Socializr appears to have entered Gamma testing last week. The site promotes itself as a "free web service for sharing event and party information with your friends." So basically a similar idea to Skobee, ILCU and the other event-based startups that are trying to get some traction. The site is obviously pretty glitchy right now (it's in Gamma, after all), but at least they have a sense of humor about it: the sign up form gives the option of "substandard" membership for "people with low self esteem", and the error messages read "Crap! There was an error!" accompanied by a sad emoticon.

Feature-wise, Socializr is pretty basic - you can create a profile (see Abrams' here), add friends, leave comments, upload images, create events and engage in discussions in the forums. There's also a special section where organizations can post events. However, it's really an unremarkable play - the most interesting element is that the Friendster founder is behind it.

Thanks to VestedVentures for the heads up.
