On first look, the site actually appears to be a cricket-based Digg-clone, but further investigation reveals that this news section doesn't allow voting - instead, stories are ranked by the number of times they've been read. Bizarrely, for a site that aims to connect people around a common interest of cricket, there's no option to comment on the stories. Once you've signed up, you can create a profile, upload a picture and add friends to your network. There's also hosting for videos and images, the ability to join fan clubs and a contest feature where you can guess who will score the maximum number of Sixes in an upcoming game.

However, the proposition is a bit muddled - despite claiming to be an "online platform to connect global cricket fans", I only see Indian teams listed. BusinessWorld India (no online link) described it "India's MySpace", further clouding the picture. Targeting a niche within a niche is fine, but they'll need to clarify that for users. There are also a lot of technical issues - poorly formatted signup emails, problems with uploading images, links that don't go anywhere - that make this very much a beta product. But if you're a diehard cricket fan, you'll probably persevere. It could survive simply because it's the only player in its niche, but it could have been executed better.

Among sporting social networks, Sixer.tv joins Tired and Tested, FanNation, FanSpot, NHL Connect, SportMates, Takkle and Fanpage's MySpace for sports.
