Moms are going to have a lot of options when it comes to networking on the web. Today MomJunction, yet another new player, announced that it has raised $1.5 million in first round funding. Investors include PointRoll CEO Christopher Saridakis and founder Jules Gardner, and entrepreneur Pat Croce.
MomJunction launched on November 1st and offers groups, profile pages, messaging, a calendar, photo hosting, and blogs with a rich text editor. They're also promoting a"patent pending" system called Ripple, which is basically a setting to decide who gets to see your content - if you ask a question, for instance, members of your group can Ripple it to their own groups until an answer is found. Likewise, you can Ripple items posted to the classifieds section - send a post to people in your group, and allow them to share it with their own groups. It's an interesting twist of the conventional friend of a friend systems.
