FunkyCall is a new phone-based service that hasn't officially launched yet. It provides funny, pre-recorded voice mail (or live call) messages to send to your friends' phones - stuff like a birthday greeting from Yoda, or a Valentines Day message from George W Bush. But they've also embraced user-generated content - users can upload their own calls to send to friends or share, as well as rating, favoriting and commenting on existing clips.

You can also embed clips in MySpace, hi5, Piczo, Facebook and blogs using the Flash player above (RSS readers, click here to see it). That could provide a nice viral element. I've no idea whether the service will take off (perhaps not), but at least it scores points for a little originality.
