Facebook and Comcast are set to launch a TV series called "Facebook Diaries", made entirely from user-generated videos. The show will consist of ten half-hour episodes and appear on Comcast's video on demand service, the Ziddio website (Ziddio is Comcast's YouTube clone) and Facebook.

This is Facebook's first foray into video, unless you count the ability to post clips from YouTube and Google Video via Facebook Share. The deal will come into action in March, when Facebook will encourage users to upload clips to Ziddio.com - that should be a big boost for the new video site, which hasn't gotten much attention. The videos will have to tell an "engaging story" to get picked, although we don't have many details yet.

I've been waiting a long time for Facebook to do something involving video. And while this isn't a big step, it does seem to be a start. Can we expect a "Facebook Video" section anytime soon?
