eBuddy announced today that eBuddy Mobile, a version of the site that works on phones and PDAs, has scored its 5 millionth unique mobile user. eBuddy is a popular IM aggregation service that seems to get a little less love than rival Meebo due to its location outside the Valley (Amsterdam).
When we reported on the eBuddy funding in October 2006, we were told they had 4 million mobile users, so the growth rate looks fairly good. What's more, they report over 400,000 daily logins to the mobile IM service, and a J2ME client will be launched in the next few months. The numbers should be treated with skepticism, of course, since the definition of a "user" can vary wildly between companies - 5 million users have dropped by since the start of the service, but the number of daily logins is far more relevant.
