You can't keep a good startup down. EvokeTV was an ajaxy TV listings service, providing a grid view of everything that's on the tube and social features like rating, tracking and badges to post to your blog. There were RSS feeds, too, and the ability to export your schedule to iCal. Unfortunately, EvokeTV closed in September 2006 due to a failure to raise funding.

EvokeTV fans will be pleased to know that the service is coming back: TVGuide.com has just bought the assets of the company, along with other TV-related sites like TVShowsOnDVD.com, TV-now.com and FansofRealityTV.com. The EvokeTV site, which is currently occupied by the developer's blog, will be relaunched later this year.

Rivals include YahooTV and MeeVee, which added support for online videos (YouTube, Metacafe etc) over a week ago.
