FoxyTunes Planet is a Widget Frontpage for Music

FoxyTunes is launching their latest feature today, FoxyTunes Planet. The free Firefox browser add-on has evolved into a rich media front page that offers all kinds of information about your favorite entertainer. It is for music, but I found some information on some celebrities that don't sing but still have video and audio clips, like comedian Dave Chapelle.

FoxyTunes Planet looks much like a Pageflakes frontpage and includes a good amount of pre-loaded widgets and more for you to choose from. There's a widget for Flickr images, song lyrics, a Pandora player and an Amazon catalog. FoxyTunes Planet has also included a YouTube video widget, so you're not just getting the artist's content, but related user-generated content as well. I think this a cohesive format to display any kind of information, and especially useful for aggregating the long tail of music.

Some things I'd like to see would include a more interactive face for each artist's page. Perhaps a wiki to add your own notes, or maybe the inclusion of some wiki where others can add comments, artist bio, or even an image. One thing I noticed is that many artists pages don't have an image from FoxyTunes Planet yet. But I'm sure this minor detail will quickly get worked on after their launch.
