StreetAdvisor Brings Power to the Neighborhood People

StreetAdvisor will launch publicly today after a period of private testing. StreetAdvisor aims to provide a highly detailed view at the local level of any neighborhood, or even street. Incorporating first hand information, ranking and reviews, and bird's-eye-view maps, StreetAdvisor empowers the community to portray the true colors of the community. Offering the useful details like street noise, public transportation info, neighbors and night life, the stories about the community are coming from its residents.

Users will be able to post images and videos within their StreetAdvisor posts, and the site has included several categories for review, such as StreetWIRED for cell phone reception and Internet access, and StreetVALUE to note the cost of living and the resale value of homes in the area.

StreetAdvisor represents the large sector that is moving to self-regulated information hubs that offer additional perspective regarding all things real estate. Sites like Zillow are diminishing the reliance on real estate agents for the general consumer base, and more services are becoming available through the Internet that provide searchable information. StreetAdvisor appears to be eroding the need for experts when it comes to choosing a place to live, in the same manner that experts within the media and news industries are being somewhat overshadowed by online communities.
