Wamily is WetPaint Plus Pageflakes

Wamily, despite its funny name, is a pretty good attempt at building a social network with collaborative features. Mashable readers can get access with the following invite code: KDOBZU

Wamily, as its name suggests, could be used for family purposes, but it could be used for friends or for general social networking as well. Start groups- or "wamilies" - customize your profile, and make new friends. Within each group there is the option to invite members, chat, or participate in a wiki discussion board. With your own profile page and groups you have the option of adding content modules in a drag-and-drop manner. This operates much like Pageflakes or Netvibes, meaning your profile could act as your own startpage if you'd like. Wamily gives you the option of inserting a search or photo sharing module, among others. My favorite is their "Embed" module which lets you insert flash widgets. All the modules are customizable, meaning you can change their color and size.

Nevertheless, with all the options for modules, a Wamily page can get crowded very quickly. There's no way to hide them - they're either on your page, or deleted. Some may find the scroll bars in every module a bit cumbersome. And being in alpha means there are some bugs to work out, especially regarding the options for profile customization. For instance, adding a photo to be used as wallpaper means it's available to all Wamily users, and there's no way to delete the image. That being said, the options for wallpaper could eventually become overwhelming, and I now regret uploading a photo of the aftermath of my last party to be used for my wallpaper! In all, it's a good concept that could do well, especially with the WetPaint crowd that likes wikis and live chat.
