Facebook had been promising a major redesign, and it went live a few minutes ago. An announcement will go out on the wire later.

The most noticeable change: the famous "Facebook guy" in the logo is gone, replaced by the simple "Facebook" text and a home symbol when you hover over it. Detailed shots of the old design can be seen on our in-depth profile of Facebook.

The design was approved by the 200,000+ users in the Facebook Sneak Preview group, so they're not anticipating a backlash this time. In fact, it seems that this design is even more understated than the last one, if that's even possible. Rest in peace, Facebook dude, we hardly knew yee.
