Can you believe that French startup Yoono, which provides a service similar to StumbleUpon, has 600,000 members? That's the claim they're making later today, when they announce the launch of "Buzz It", a new clipping tool for IE and Firefox.

Buzz It is a browser applet that builds upon the existing recommendation-based social search engine. Like Clipmarks, it lets you capture text, links, images, and video while you browse the web - some suggested uses include research and shopping. You can use Buzz It to post to blogs, social networks (including MySpace) and your Yoono Buzzlog homepage. In that sense, it's also a rival to Share2Me and many more tools for posting to social sites.

We're a little fatigued by all these social annotation tools, in all honestly, and I don't really get the appeal. But these tools are so personal that everyone inevitably has a favorite service: you won't know until you try it.

Yoono will also be at the upcoming Web 2.0 expo.
