Qlique is a Live, Location-Aware Social Network

Qlique is a new location-aware social network that's currently in public beta.

Qlique actually has a lot going on - we spent at least a few hours within the Qlique network to see what it's all about. Qlique is focused on having a live network that shows others in your proximity (up to 3,000 miles). They've started out targeting Greeks (yep, Greeks, not geeks!) at Penn State, so there weren't many people for me to meet quite yet! There are several ways in which to interact with other users. Check out their "persona" or start page, which includes a basic blog, ratings, and comments. On your own start page, there are Qlique widgets that allow you to start games or quizzes with nearby members. It's a new take on social networking, and relies solely on live internet connections, so it may take some time for Qlique to populate and really take off.

Though Qlique is location-aware, part of the beauty of the Internet is being able to connect on a global level. It would be helpful to search for users without limiting location. It's also difficult to learn about other users, and you can't see their own customized page. Hopefully they'll add the ability to include your own widgets onto your startpage, like Wamily, and as Qlique is focused on location-awareness with live connections, a mobile application like AIM's Skyhook

service would fit nicely with their format. In all, Qlique is a pretty fun and interesting way to socialize.
