Jesus, Google - is there no market that you won't push your way into and absolutely annihilate the competition? It's not enough that you just announced massive profits: now you're trying to kill WebEx, too.

At least, that's the assumption I made when reading an extremely brief announcement on the Google Blog to say they've acquired Marratech, a video conferencing startup. The post on the Google blog is a little vague, however, stating that Marratech will "enable from-the-desktop participation for Googlers in videoconference meetings wherever there's an Internet connection."

It's possible that Google has just acquired this to use internally, but Google doesn't stay out of any market for long, so I wouldn't rule out the addition of video conferencing to Google Talk.
