The world of online events just got ugly: Ticketmaster, owner of event-planning service Evite, has threatened to sue rival Socializr for copyright infringement. Socializr was founded by Friendster creator Jonathan Abrams.
According to Ticketmaster (via VentureBeat), Socializr is ripping off a few of Evite's invitation template designs. Of those cited for copyright infringement are Socializr's "Holiday," the "Hawaii Luau" and "Winter Celebration." While Holiday and Hawaii Luau have been removed from Socializr's library, Winter Celebration remains, spurring more bad blood between Evite and Socializr. We've got the screen shots of the two wintry templates, so you can see for yourself what all the hubbub is about.
