Pure Digital, maker of disposable cameras often sold in drug stores, has created their Flip Video, an everyday camcorder that has a built-in USB plug for easy uploading of videos. The camcorder sells for $119 for 30 minutes of storage space, and $149 for 60 minutes of storage space.

Pure Digital has a lot of backing as well, as they have raised $40 million in a round of funding led by Morgan Stanley and Alliance Bernstein. Other investors include Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Steamboat Ventures. Pure Digital is also planning on going public in 2008, and states that their goal is to be profitable by the times it files for it's initial IPO. While Pure Digital claims that their video quality is superior to that of say, a mobile phone, I'm still waiting for the slew of high quality cameras that will let me send my videos directly to the Internet. There just aren't enough of those out there.
