Jott, the voice-to-text service, has raised $5.4 million in its latest round of funding.

Boston-based Bain Capital led the round with it's new early stage fund. The previous round's investors included Draper Richards, Ackerley Partners and Atomico. Jott is a free service that offers you a phone number to call in order to record a message that will be translated into text format and sent via email. Jotts can be sent to yourself or to a group of contacts. Jott can also import your email addresses from Yahoo, GMail and Outlook.

Jott indicates that they intent to remain a free service and is considering using advertising or an ad-free premium service to cover their costs and bring in some cash flow. Similar product include Spinvox and Jangl.
