MixerCast, the media mashup provider, has raised a first round of funding from ComVentures for what is estimated to be worth $2.6 million.

MixerCast's service, which lets you import Flickr, YouTube, Photobucket and other media from content sources, places the media in a Flash player that can be embedded in your MySpace, Hi5 and Piczo profiles. As MixerCast has deals with some of the big players in the music industry, including Universal, their users can incorporate some of these offerings into their slide shows. As media can be purchased through the MixerCast widget, it proves useful for artists looking to earn extra revenue from their work.

MixerCast, still rather new in the game, is in the running against the major slide show providers such as RockYou, and Photobucket, which has recently been acquired by MySpace.
