SweetIM is a new personalized instant messaging application, offering emoticons for your various IM clients and social networking profiles. On Tuesday, the service will announce support for AOL Instant Messenger.
This free application can be used with AOL, Yahoo and MSN instant messenger tools. A lot of what SweetIM offers are animations, complete with sounds. There's a pirate that taps his hook on the screen to get your buddy's attention, and another guy that doubles over in laughter, so your friends can know just how funny you think their situation really is.
You'll have to download SweetIM, and these flash-based emoticons, including winks, sound effects, nudges and images will become available on your instant messenger chat toolbar. SweetIM has about 1000 items to select from. Most of the SweetIM options are pretty darned goofy, but generally fun. SweetIM graphics can be used for your social networking profiles, like MySpace, hi5 and Piczo. It is, however, aimed at the younger crowd - grown-ups may find it fairly cheap and pointless, along with the whole "free smileys" trend.
