Spock, the people-search engine, is officially launching its public beta on Wednesday. Read our initial review here.

You'll remember that Spock is a search engine that collects data about you from across the web, aggregating it all to offer a complete (or as close to complete as Spock can get) picture of your web presence. Pulling data from social networks like MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn, among other places in the web, Spock looks to offer users the important information about you as a person--your occupation, age, and even a bit of history thrown in there to add background information.

From a person's profile you can further your search by checking out links for more resources, related people, and related tag words. Like many other people search engines out there, pretty much anyone can add pertinent information to people's profiles. If you're not already profiled on Spock, you can create a page for yourself. If you happen to find yourself but you haven't registered, you can claim your profile.

Additionally, you can invite a person to claim their own profile. Once you become a registered member, you can take advantage of Spock's additional search functions, such as the ability to add people to your favorites section, and filter searches within your favorites. Similar services include xtimeline, Wink and WikiYou.
