Sonicbids, the social network for band promoters, has received $4.5 million in funding from the Edison Venture Fund.

Pretty much anyone involved in the music industry can participate on some level with Sonicbids. The community is put in place to help promoters and musicians take away the tediousness involved with the business side of the music industry. Sonicbids helps you manage your calendars, photos, music samples, and connect with others in the industry as well. It does this by helping you create an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) that can be sent out to potential venues, managers, etc. It's also available online for you to direct others too, for booking purposes, or to gather additional information regarding your band.

The site itself has been around for some time now. Boston-based Sonicbids was founded in 2001 as a way to enable musicians to create their online presence while attracting promoters and others involved with the industry by creating a hub for musical talent. Several sites with similar goals have since cropped up, including the likes of MySpace and countless others. And more recently, SmugglersMusic, Fuzz have launched.
