In an effort to cut costs, CNN has announced that it will no longer use material from Reuters for its content, starting tomorrow.

The decision was made in order that CNN would focus more attention on developing its own new gathering sources, though it will still use content from the Associated Press and Associated Press Television News. It's been reported that Reuters has said that a commercial agreement between the two companies could not be reached, but hopes to work with CNN again in the future.

The news companies have worked together for the past 27 years, though with the growing push of online content, several traditional media companies have needed to find ways to become more nimble and economically aware of their budgets. Reuters was recently acquired by Thomson Corporation, which will perhaps allow the company to focus on its own proposed development as well.
