AOL Selling Dial-Up Access Service?

AOL may soon be selling its dial-up Internet access business, as Time Warner, its parent company, has indicated that it will be looking in the next 12 to 18 months at this possibility.

This would be similar to what AOL did in Europe, though the company says that it would be a more difficult undertaking in the States. Additionally, the company seems unwilling to let go of the traffic ushered in from dial-up users just yet. Nevertheless, AOL needs to get its stock prices back up.

With a complete restructuring of its service last year, which made most of its web services available for free, AOL is continuing to consider methods for making the company more appealing. Growing its ad network along with its global expansion seems to be a major focus for the portal company.
