Microsoft Exec to Testify at Google/Doubleclick Hearing

Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith will testify at next week’s Senate hearing on the proposed merger between Google and DoubleClick. Microsoft has previously criticized the deal as giving Google an unfair competitive advantage in the online advertising market. However, that’s probably going to be a tough sell now that Microsoft has purchased aQuantive and Yahoo bought Right Media. Google purchased DoubleClick for $3.1 billion in April, setting off a rapid round of acquisitions in the online advertising space.

The hearing will take place next Thursday before the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights.
