Multiverse, which provides tools to allow developers to build their own virtual worlds (previous coverage), has announced a partnership to provide users access to Google’s 3D Warehouse and terrain maps from Google Earth. The deal will provide developers with millions of more images and options they can use to create their worlds, and allow them to enter a specific point on a map (as defined by longitude and latitude) to pull data and imagery.

In addition to the models and terrain from Google Earth, Multiverse hopes to allow users to pull in photos that users have added. Currently, the project is capable of supporting up to 1,000 users per server.

SceneCaster is another startup that also recently announced a deal with Google for access to 3D Warehouse, though they are more focused on virtual e-commerce experiences.
