Apple's iPhone Directory is Really Real!

Apple's rumored application directory has come to fruition. The directory is now live on Apple's website, and can be found here. It outlines what web apps for your iPhone are, how they can be used, and information regarding the development of web apps for the iPhone. You can check out the featured apps, or browse through the categories that Apple has lined out, such as Games, Entertainment, Productivity, Search Tools, Social Networking, Sports, Travel, Utilities and Weather.

Similar to many widget distributors, and very much like Facebook's application directory, this directory is aimed to help you find content for your iPhone. For each app, screen shots of how the application looks on the iPhone and a description are available. The application's company name, URL and post date are also displayed as basic information for each. You can filter them by most popular, staff picks, most recent, and alphabetical order. There's even an RSS feed you can subscribe to in order to keep up with all the iPhone apps that will be added. What I do not see, however, is a search bar specifically for iPhone apps. Hopefully that will be added soon.
