Google Spreadsheets has a few updates today, including the option to select multiple cells and change their format. Now you can change the color or the text of those cells. There's also an option to hide rows and columns, and printing options have been improved as well.

While these new features still aren't as advanced as tools you seen in Microsoft Excel, Google's efforts continue to go in the right direction, morphing its web-based tool into a more inclusive alternative. Google has also noted that the improvements made to Spreadsheets are moving along much faster than Google Docs. That's understandable, considering the options needed for spreadsheet creation and manipulation, versus documents.

Other recent Google updates include Analytics enhancements, and a possible AdSense network for Facebook.
