BrightRoll Video Ad Network Raises $5 Million

Brightroll, the online video advertising network, has raised about $5 million in a Series B funding. The round was led by True Ventures and Adams Street Partners. With the offering of both pre-roll and mid-roll ads, Brightroll contextually places ads based on webpage information, site behavior and demographics. Assessing tags, profiles and data from ComScore, Brightroll aims to provide publishers and advertisers targeted ads, where the publishers need to do very little work to this end. The space is getting rather crowded, with different ad networks taking different approaches, with recently funded services like Podaddies specializing in offline ad grafts, BlackArrow offering dynamic ads, and YuMe presenting interactive overlay ads.
