YouTube Launches New Zealand Site

Following their practice of launching specific versions of its video sharing portal for regional markets, YouTube has launched a New Zealand version of the site, located at nz.youtube.com. The new sites should be faster for New Zealanders, search will be localized, and New Zealand-related videos will be featured on the front page. Specifically, when users in New Zealand upload videos, they will show as top and recommended videos on the local site.

As far as content goes, YouTube has signed deals with sevearl content partners in New Zealand, including Sky News, TVNZ, and 100% Pure New Zealand. However, some comments from users point out that the recently launched Australian version of YouTube has got far more localized content than the New Zealand one.
