The numbers are in for Black Friday holiday shopping, and once again web sites specializing in consumer electronics showed the biggest surge. Overall, traffic to e-commerce sites was up 10 percent over last year to 21.2 million unique visitors. Here’s a look at how the top online retailers performed:

What were people searching for? According to Nielsen Online, top terms associated with Black Friday searches included Plasma TVs and the Nintendo Wii. You can also see the huge spike in electronics-related searches in Nielsen’s breakdown of the week-over-week unique audience surge for different shopping segments:

While 10 percent is a nice gain for e-commerce sites, it does highlight the maturation of the Web. Last year the same report showed traffic up 12 percent year-over-year, while back in 2004, business was booming 27 percent y-o-y.
