Open Web Awards: Nominations for Mobile Applications

Digg founder Kevin Rose recently called mobile applications the next big thing. With Google making application development easier with Android and hundreds of apps already optimized to run on the iPhone, the time might finally be here for mobile applications to cross over to the mainstream. From the big boys, some notables include a slick version of Facebook on your Blackberry and recent upgrades to Google Maps for Mobile that includes GPS location information. Startups like Twitter, Jaiku, and Rabble also fall into this category with a variety of applications that take advantage of mobile.

To nominate a mobile application, leave a comment with the word “NOMINATE” in it. Nominations will remain open until 11:59pm PST on December 4th (next Tuesday). At that point, we will tally up the nominations and enter the second stage of the competition – voting.
