As I've stated before, I'm a very avid GMail user. I enjoy its spam protection and its ability to handle and organize a heroic amount of mail. Since joining up with Mashable, my daily email load has risen from around a hundred messages a day to upwards of 400-500 messages a day. As you might imagine, I take full advantage of GMail's filtering and labeling utility.
GMail has added another new gimmick to its repertoire (something they've been doing a lot of these days) - colored labels.
The one glaringly absent function from GMail has been folders. In theory, a perfectly search-able and label-able GMail wouldn't use them, but I feel uncomfortable sending all my keepsake emails and 'check on this later' emails to the same archive folder. Google's Mail team is finally realizing this, too, and is alerting us that they're "doing some work to add some folder-y-ish functionality."
The colored labels function only works in IE7 and Firefox 2. Chances are, though, if you're using an inferior version of either browser, you aren't much of a GMail fan in the first place.
