The Los Angeles Times Media Group has announced a partnership with Mixx, which includes the newspaper giant taking an equity stake in the startup. As for the integration, it's pretty simple: as you can see on any LATimes story page, there are now buttons to submit stories to Mixx, right alongside similar icons for rivals Digg, del.icio.us, and others. While hardly ground-breaking, getting its brand onto one of the top newspaper sites in the country is a nice win for Mixx.

Additionally, as part of the deal LATimes content will be optimized within Mixx’s site, which as we’ve reviewed previously, combines the social news features of Digg with personal start page features and story recommendations.
