The Queen: Just as Pointless on YouTube as Elsewhere

As promised, the Queen deemed to speak to us filthy proles on Christmas Day through the medium of YouTube, the first time the annual televised Christmas speech has been posted straight to the video sharing site - last year it was made available as a podcast. For those not familiar, the Queen is the monarch of 129 million people in 16 sovereign states including the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. She is funded by UK taxpayers.

Her topic this year was giving to the poor and disadvantaged, an ironic plea in that the Queen owns assets worth somewhere between $500 million and $10 billion. Fortunately, the Queen has no real power and acts largely as a magnet for tourists. In that capacity, a bit of YouTube promotion can only help things along.
