Finally, Sony-BMG plans to remove Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions from their digital music downloads, meaning all four of the big labels now offer DRM-free music. Over the last several years, bloggers have been particularly vocal regarding the decline of record sales and the need for DRM-free digital music. Recently, Amazon has made DRM-free music a major selling point as it takes on iTunes in the MP3 market. Alley Insider argues that DRM is a “philosophical issue that bothers a handful of vocal folks.” Personally, I tend to agree, but I thought it might make an interesting poll question to round out the week, so:
