While streaming radio at Yahoo may be in continued jeopardy, another way to grab your music from the company may be opening up very soon. The Associated Press is reporting that Yahoo is in early discussions with 'major record labels' to offer non-DRM MP3s either for sale or as part of an ad-supported service. AP cites two unnamed record company executives as the source of today's rumor of talks.

The talks were said to have been held last month, and have not yet yielded a final deal, but seem to be on track for a conclusion. Had the news come a few months ago, it would be groundbreaking, but this alleged deal comes on the heels of all four major record labels having struck a deal with Amazon.com to distribute un-DRMed MP3s online.
