All the big names in online publishing are doing it. Especially those that are converting their print-media theology to an online manifestation--The Associated Press and Reuters, for example, have both signed Attributor to provide content tracking and protection for their content. The latest? CondeNet.

Attributor will now be fingerprinting CondeNet content in order to analyze how it's being used across the web. Perks of using Attributor include better SEO and increased syndication revenue for its online properties, which include Style.com, Men.Style.com and Epicurious.com. This move may be especially important as companies like Scripps ramp up their own online offering, as well as integration within existing networks, partnerships with other applications, and advertising across niche networks.

[img src="" caption="" credit="" alt=""]That's not to say that CondeNet has been sitting on its bum all this time. The massive publisher has invested in some custom consumer applications including Tastebook, and has ramped up its own advertising methods, pushing ads through video channels on YouTube, among other areas on the web. There's also the content that CondeNet is providing for Sony Bravia, which is a direct syndication option that delivers directly to consumers' homes. CondeNet has in fact taken on a multi-directional method of reaching end users and consumers, with a central purpose being the goal of finding additional ways in which to monetize its existing content. We've seen this from other services such as Rhapsody as well.
