Map mashups are usually pretty fun.  Mashups that let you spy on your neighbors finances, doubly so.  Throw in politics to the mix, and you have a triple-threat time-sink.   Such is the case with Huffington Post's FundRace2008. I first saw it linked over at Marketing Pilgrim, but I've seen it Twittered several times since then.

It's a real simple mashup: Google Maps overlaid with FEC donation data. The result? A searchable way to tell who your neighbors gave their money to.  Janet Meiners over at the Pilgrim used it to find who at Yahoo, Google and Microsoft gave to which candidates:

Yahoo: $0 to Republicans $14,174 to Democrats

Google: $38,692 to Republicans $141,963 to Democrats

Microsoft: $69,093 to Republicans $166,420 to Democrats

I did a bit more searching around:

Fox Interactive Media/MySpace: $2,775 to Republicans  $10,450 to Democrats.

Facebook: $250 to Republicans  $550 to Democrats

LinkedIn: $0 to Republicans  $2,550 to Democrats.

Plaxo: $1,000 to Republicans  $0 to Democrats.
