I'm attending the panel discussion today in DC for the Politics Online conference on "Will Radical Transparency Transform Politics?"

This is possibly one of the most interesting question I see being posed at the conference so far. I've often wondered what positive and measurable effects there would be if the Federal Government, the White House, or even my senator adopted the same "open CEO policy" that Jason Calacanis uses when operating Mahalo, for instance. We can see that it's obviously worked for him in increasing engagement. If we felt we could actually make a difference, and there were easy lines of communication to our representatives, would it make a significant difference as to how our government worked?

To answer these questions will be John Wonderlich of the Sunlight Foundation, Derek Willis of the New York Times, Greg Palmer of the New York City School System, and Peggy Garvin of Garvin Information Consulting.
