AJ Vaynerchuk is a co-founder of the newly launched t-shirt search engine PleaseDressMe. His guest post today provides an inside look into the launch of a startup as well as the opportunity to win some free t-shirts. PleaseDressMe launched on September 1st, 2008.
After months of discussion and hard work, I, along with my co-founders Joe Stump and Gary Vaynerchuk, launched PleaseDressMe. Long story short, PleaseDressMe is a t-shirt search engine that allows you to find shirts by color, keyword, tag, or price. I know this is obvious but you need to know this: launching a startup is one of the most exciting and stressful events you will ever endure. Within the first few days we received a ton of press and a barrage of emails consisting of both suggestions and business development. Along with the press and email came a lack of sleep; I worked 17-hour days for the first two weeks. The first few weeks are extremely important, and if you manage to build hype, you have to do everything you can to sustain it.
