But where SnapDat excels is the ease of exchanging cards and then getting that information into your iPhone phonebook. If the person you’re exchanging contact info with also has SnapDat, you can simply send them your information by entering their username. If they don’t, SnapDat can email them a vCard instead, which overcomes the barrier of registering for SnapDat, and the larger hurdle of needing to have an iPhone.

If you’re the recipient of a SnapDat card, one click can save the data and send the user back your contact details. From there, that person will be both in your list of contacts on the iPhone, as well as accessible through the “SnapDirectory,” which is a collection of all of the SnapDat cards you’ve obtained. When you access a card, you can contact that person via any of the info they’ve made available – a call, an SMS, or an email.

SnapDat is exactly the way a digital business card exchange solution should work. The biggest challenge might just be getting people to change their behavior and get used to the idea of exchanging contact information via mobile device instead of dead trees.

If you'd like to exchange contact info with me on SnapDat, my username is 'adamo'
