If you're unfamiliar with the site and it's entrepreneur, the New York Times piece from earlier this year offers some perspective on Markus Frind, the man behind the site, who reportedly works 10 hour weeks and makes $10 million dollars from site advertisements. A cursory glance at the site, shows over 70,000 people online right now, and seems to indicate that Frind still hasn't gotten around to fixing the dimensions of user avatars, but that still doesn't seem to matter.

Plentyoffish's US monthly market share in the dating category continues to rise, now around 17.02%, while Match and eHarmony have only managed to amass 3 - 5% market share. According to Frind's Plentyoffish blog, not only is Plentyoffish the top dating site in the US and the UK, but it's continuing to see steady signups in December, a month that Frind observes normally sees a 30% decrease.

Most notably perhaps is that Frind is looking to expand operations in 2009—by 1. He confesses that he's "getting tired of running every aspect of the site" and will be in search of a "tech guy to watch over the servers."
