WeddingBook was one of five winners of fbFund, collecting a $250,000 grant from Facebook and its venture capital partners. Terms of the acquisition aren’t being disclosed, but it’s certainly a quick turnaround for WedSnap – the fbFund award came just last month. Meanwhile, TheKnot's branding has already been added to the WeddingBook application.
As far as Facebook goes, recent buzz has been much more focused on Facebook Connect – the company’s identity platform for third-party websites. Nonetheless, WeddingBook’s exit reminds us that there are still apps inside Facebook with hundreds of thousands of users, and if they target the right niche, there is still money to be made.
