ExecTweets: The Twitter Business Model?

Today, the ad network Federated Media is taking a shot at making money from Twitter; FM has launched ExecTweets, a site that aggregates Tweets from business executives. The site is sponsored by Microsoft.

The fact is, many business executives are actively using Twitter today. It makes more sense than blogging, which takes more time, and the public sees it as a great view of a company communicating with its users, shareholders and customers. Finding all those business people on Twitter can be quite a chore, and thus FM's new service might be useful for tracking what's on the minds of business executives.

If you have a Twitter account, you can reply directly from ExecTweets (the replies are threaded); you can also recommend new execs to follow, vote for interesting tweets and users, search through a tag cloud, and follow @exectweets on Twitter, receiving interesting re-tweets from the community. There's an iPhone version in the works, too, expected to be available in mid-April.

Twitter to Officially Endorse ExecTweets

Even more interesting: Twitter will officially endorse ExecTweets today and encourage brands to create portals like this. Did Twitter just allow a third party to run away with its business model?
