The media outlet asserts that "people claiming to be friends of the actress have told Star magazine that she finished the affair after discovering Mayer, 31, spent hours on the networking website, despite telling her he was too busy to get in touch with her."
Realistically, the break up had less to do with Twitter and more to do with the reported lack of attention. But if the rumors are true, it might be in someone's best interest to explain to Jen that tweeting can be a mindless and effortless endeavor (ie. he wasn't choosing Twitter over her). Regardless, if your boyfriend wasn't calling you, how would you like to see a constant stream of tweets like the ones above? Apparently, even Mayer has taken a liking to the no-brainer behavior of retweeting (RT), much like the rest of us.
So is Mayer obsessed with Twitter? From the looks of it, Mayer didn't start to embrace Twitter until February of this year, with his average tweets per day coming in at 7.4. Though his activity has certainly trended exponentially up, 7.4 tweets a day does not a Twitter addict make (yet). TweetStats has a little more data on John Mayer's twittering behavior.
