UK tech news site Electricig reports that “we’ve heard Vodafone is bringing them back, and will be the only mobile operator in Britain to offer them. What’s more, we’ve heard that sending SMS updates to Twitter might be free for all Vodafone customers. You read that right. Free twittering, from any phone, as long as it’s on Vodafone.”
That’s the same deal that Bell Mobility customers got, after initial confusion made it appear that Twitter users would be charged 15 cents per message.
We wouldn’t be surprised if a Twitter-Vodafone deal came to fruition. In its announcement of the Bell Mobility deal, Biz Stone wrote, “Our recently hired Director of Mobile Business Development, Kevin Thau is working hard to bring full Twitter SMS to your country.”
